Adding on to an historic landmark, as we did in the case of the Appomattox Courthouse Building, can be a daunting challenge-preserving the integrity of the original structure is paramount. Other historic buildings surrounded the new structure as well, making the job site very tight. We also had to build over and around an old mausoleum, protecting it during the entire project. Finally, we had to meet the very high expectations of Appomattox County that the new building would blend in seamlessly with the old-and we are proud to say it does.
