Project Search: Medical & Adult Care
The Emergency Animal Clinic located in Lynchburg was a design-build project. The Owner was "hands on" during the design and construction and continually upgraded medical equipment as it became available. The project is unique in that it combines a medical facility and encompasses a residential component for staff. It was constructed on a tight budget and required the latest technology. The building was completed with a surgery room, medical gas capabilities, treatment rooms and a quarantine facility.
This J.E. Jamerson and Sons project consisted of additions and renovation to the existing health department, and the construction of a new addition. The health department maintained operations during the construction process. Careful planning and an after hour work schedule were needed to ensure that no services were interrupted. A new roof and mechanical system were installed and the entire building was upgraded to meet current building codes.
This adult health care center required institutional construction techniques that created a residential character for its residents and staff. J.E. Jamerson and Sons had to comply with federal and state institutional standards for the construction of this facility that includes private and semi-private rooms, lounge areas, a rehabilition center, nurses stations, interior courtyard, kitchen and cafeteria. The exterior had to meet the architectural requirements of the Wyndhurst neighborhood.
